President George W. Bush is an extremely controversial figure, but even his staunchest critics were quiet and respectful when his daughter, Jenna, was married in an elaborate ceremony earlier this year. The 26 year old Jenna exchanged vows with Henry Hager, the son of a well connected member of Virginia's Republican party in front of a giant limestone cross at the President's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Jenna wore a silk organza Oscar De La Renta gown while her groom wore a dark blue suit and a powder blue tie, and Jenna's grandparents, former President George HW Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush, both spoke during the ceremony. The wedding party, or as it's known in Texas, “the house party” was dressed in colors that reflected the landscape, like greens, blues, yellows, and lavendars inspired by Texas wildflowers. 14 women attendants wore chiffon dresses designed by Lela Rose and while the 14 men wore suits with light blue ties. The wedding reception was held under a tent, where a Motown style band played “You Are So Beautiful” as the president had his father- daughter dance with Jenna. It was a relatively intimate affair, with family and only “very close friends” being invited to a ceremony that included two former presidents, as some of Jenna's close friends weren't invited because “she would be afraid of their behavior.” Unlike many weddings in Presidential families, Jenna Bush's was a low key, family affair deliberately kept out of the media spotlight. But the Texas wedding was a great success, and the President himself told reporters that the whole day “was spectacular. It was all we could have hoped for. We're mighty blessed.” I'm Harmonie Krieger for NuptialsTV.Com, wishing all your wedding fantasies come true.
