Sometimes, your wedding or reception venue will have formal wear requirements that are stricter than your own taste. Many country clubs, for example, require that all males wear jackets, and some require ties to enter. Make sure you include this information in your wedding invitations, because you don't want any of your guests turned away at the door for not being dressed up enough. Make sure you are clear that the formal requirements are mandatory... include the wording “jackets required by country club,” so there is no confusion. Just politely saying “jackets please” on the invite may imply that jackets are a non mandatory request, and may lead to one of your guests being turned away at the door of your venue. Don't risk the confusion... make your invitation clear if you have any sort of attire requirements. It will help your guests out in the end, because you will never hear the end of it if one of your close friends is stuck outside your reception because of a restrictive attire policy.
