When you are getting married, your close friends and relatives will be vying to be named your maid of honor. But becoming the MOH is not just a fun walk in the park... it's a job that involves a lot of responsibilities. A Maid of Honor is typically expected to plan the bridal shower, with the help of the other bridesmaids and her immediate family. The MOH is also supposed to help the bride pick her dress and the bridesmaid dresses, and then rounding up the bridesmaids to make sure they get fitted for their dresses and are ready and prepared for the wedding day, then making sure they all know where they are supposed to be and when on the big day. The Maid of Honor is also supposed to stand right next to the bride during the ceremony and hold her bouquet while she exchanges rings with her fiancée. Sometimes the MOH holds the wedding band for the bride, though the best man usually holds onto both rings, and if there is a receiving line, the Maid of Honor usually is part of it. If the bride's gown has a long train, her MOH will often bustle it for her for the reception, and will be announced along with the best man, whom she will probably share a dance with. During the reception, both the maid of honor and the best man usually give a toast for the newly married couple, but the most important duty of the MOH is to make sure the brides stays sane during the wedding planning and all the way through the big day. And if you can do that job, above all others, then you are the perfect candidate to become a maid of honor.
